  • World Atlas of Desertification

    <p>The next meeting on the New World Atlas of Desertification and Improvement will take place in Windhoek, Namibia from 29 November to 03 December. DRFN is hosting this event. This is the third meeting of a group of experts from all over the world aimed at developing a new, more dynamic atlas of desertification and related themes.</p>

    <p><img style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="SLCP_sign.jpg" src="/storage/app/media/uploaded-files/58c903fe90d9b.jpg" border="0" alt="SLCP_sign.jpg" width="600" height="450"></p> <p>The DRFN signed a contract for the implementation of the Summer Land Care Programme (SLCP) on 29 September 2010.<br> The SLCP is a hand’s on field based course that is aimed at developing and increasing the capacity of young Namibian students and graduates to acquire and apply research skills in all levels of integrated land management.<br> The project is part of the Country Pilot Partnership Programme (CPP) and will run from November 2010 to February 2011 under the theme “investigating the benefits of carbon sequestration and conservation tillage of local land users”.     <p><img style="margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto" title="SDC11409.JPG" src="/storage/app/media/uploaded-files/58c9040d1bf95.jpg" border="0" alt="SDC11409.JPG" width="532" height="399"></p> <p>The 21st of September DRFN signed a contract with the Finnish Embassy for a new project. The aims of the project are to 1) provide support to local communities with small scale water projects, 2) assist Local Authorities to strengthen their capacity in managing water supply, sanitiatiin and solid waste systems, and 3) compile and disseminate environmental updates to Parliamentarians.   • CBEND inauguration

    <p>The CBEND project is coming to an end at the end of September 2010.
