Piet du Pisani, the Director of the DRFN handed over books to Maria Amakali, the Director of Resource Management in the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry and Cynthia Ortmann, the Chair of the Local Organizing committee. This is in preparation for the commemoration of the World Wetlands/Water Day. This year’s celebrations will be held at Kamutjonga Inland Fisheries Institute (KIFI), in Kavango East from the 25th to the 26th of March 2015. This will be under the theme “Water and Sustainable development”.

The overall objective of the SADC Gender Unit is to facilitate the achievement of substantive equality between women and men in the SADC region. This is to be achieved through mainstreaming gender into all national and regional policies, programmes and activities.
