Water and Environmental Resources in Regional Development (WERRD)
What is WERRD?

The WERRD project addresses Water and Ecosystem Resources in Regional Development: Balancing Societal Needs and Wants and Natural resources Systems, Sustainability in International River Basin Systems.

What is WERRD's General Objective?
The general objective of this project is to increase understanding of livelihoods, the environment and policies relating to international river basins. In this case, the project refers to the Okavango River and is being designed by a variety of participants from Botswana, England, Namibia, South Africa and Sweden and is being funded by the European Union.

What is DRFN’s involvement?
The DRFN will be primarily contributing to one of seven ‘work packages’ focused on an Interactive Information System for the Okavango River Basin. This ties into the Every River Project for which the DRFN is involved in information exchange. Within WERRD, the DRFN will also be contributing to several other components including socio-economic structure and local knowledge and value system
