The Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Namibia, in partnership with the DRFN are implementing a three-year project from 2015-2017 to support national efforts for public awareness on environmental protection and climate change adaptation and mitigation. The project will engage a variety of stakeholders across the country including schools, the media, social entrepreneurs and political decision makers.
The project objectives are:
- Increase knowledge and skill on environmental issues.
- Promote knowledge transfer in the environmental sector.
- Promote social entrepreneurship in the environmental sector.
- Support journalistic work in the environmental sector.
The environmental Awareness and Climate Change project uses a dynamic approach in its project implementation. Project activities will include a national information campaign, the development of engaging and informative educational materials, dynamic public dialogue platforms and the training of multipliers.
The project inception meeting to formally acknowledge the commencement of the project implementation, introduce the project objectives to stakeholders and welcome further participation in the Baseline Survey study and follow-up workshops was held at Nampower Convention Centre on 30 April 2015.
Presentations were made by Rennie Munyayi the DRFN Programme Coordinator – Water Programmes, HSF Project Coordinator and Ministry of Environment and Tourism Chief Warden on Environmental Education.
