The overall objective of the project is to improve the health, hygiene and well being of the population in Schlip settlement in the Hardap region.
Specific project objectives are:
• Schlip community has improved access to sustainable, safe and dignified sanitation
• Capacity of local communities strengthened to facilitate personal and environmental health and hygiene
In line with the first specific objective, the DRFN team is starting the construction of dry sanitation systems. In liaison with the project stakeholders (Hardap Regional Council, Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Forestry- Directorate of Water Supply and Sanitation Coordination and well as Schlip CDC) designed a selection criteria in a bid to identify the beneficiaries of the sanitation systems.
A total of 11 beneficiaries were selected on the 11th of September 2015. These can be considered to be the most vulnerable members of the community. Only community members residing on public/Government property were considered.
