Information resources that enhance environmental and social awareness and understanding are the basis for research and training in sustainability issues.

Through its books, posters and papers, the DRFN supports decision-makers in all walks of Namibian society – including communities, authorities in government, the private sector and the general public.

The organization has striven over the years to support and promote research and training. Our publications are the product of these projects. They are useful building blocks for a developing nation and make a positive contribution to Namiba's sustainable development.

Ephemeral Rivers and their catchments
DRFN & DWA / 1995
ISBN 99916-709-4-7
The aim of this book is to familiarise Namibians with the westward-flowing ephemeral rivers, their catchments, their resources, and how they are currently used. These resources, particularly water and rangelands, are and will continue to be the primary basis of development in the western catchments. As such it is essential that resource users in the region and throughout Namibia carefully consider the limited and specialized potential of this arid region's resources.
Available with the book are ephemeral river maps.

Oshanas
Sustaining people environment and development in central Owambo, Namibia
DRFN & SIDA 1992
ISBN 99916-709-0-4

The oshana area is the most important ephemeral wetland in Namibia. It supports a variety of natural rsources that are replenished whenever floods occur. Despite its importance as a support system for the people dependent on it, little is known about the functioning of this important system. This document seeks to raise awareness of the importance of the natural environment in sustaining developments in the area. A long term view of the interactions of people with their environment is essential in this regard.
