The DRFN undertakes commercial environmental work through its consulting arm, the Environmental Evaluation Associates of Namibia (Pty) Ltd (EEAN).

EEAN works with a variety of engineering, planning and government institutions involved in development plans and proposals. We draw on expertise in our professional staff and trainees in DRFN, and amongst our many partners and associates. We have been involved in the following sectors:

Urban development
Transport and communication
Rural development, agriculture and forestry
Water and energy
Mining

Environmental impact assessment (EIA) is an important tool in sustainable development, and we work within the framework of Namibia’s Environmental Management Act. EIA practitioners are often incorrectly perceived as being ‘anti-development’. This perception is quite wrong: the intention is to find ways to cause least environmental harm and balance that with most societal benefit. EEAN and the EIA process promote thorough planning so that benefits from development projects can be sustained long-term.
